Hey guys, Im new to all this, so bear with me. Im learning more and more about these trucks every day and even more since ive spent the last two days reading all your threads on everything that i want/need to know. This is great!
I want to put a 4" turbo back on my beast and have a couple of questions.
Do you have to get a new 4" down pipe from the turbo, or will the '05 "existing" downpipe mate up with a 4" exhaust.
Is there a kit i can get? I can do the work myself and im a welder by trade.
I would appreciate any advice you guys could give me... :noteworthy:
You can go either way w/ the exhaust. You could leave your DP on and mate it up with the 4" exhaust, or (for better performance and lower EGTs) you could just get a total turbo back kit. The Turbo back kit will run a little more but is worth it. It's a little more work as you have to jimmy the DP up to the turbo, but a little elbow grease and a few choice words will get-er up there. FYI...the V-Band clamp holding the DP to the turbo is a PITA!!!
the down pipes on a 4" is actually 3.5" (i think) there may be some TRUE 4" down pipes out there though. any of our vendors will be able to set you up with a kit that suites you perfect, the systems usually dont require welding because they are clamped together, but a few tacts on the joints is a good idea
You guys are great.. I think that i would rather go with the stainless. Whats a good brand? MBRP? And can you get those kits without the mufflers or do you get a "straight thru" with that?
