I'm posting for my dad's 96 F-250 to help him out...
his turbo seems to be leaking oil on the intake side. the inlet coming from the air cleaner is all wet. it's leaking to the inside so much that it's sucking down the motor. it burns it when he starts it in the am. truck has 150k miles. it was about 3qts low (over 5k, due for an oil change now). he usually never has to add oil.
the truck use to have good zip when it hit 2200 rpm. it hasn't had that in quite some time.
so, is it time for a new turbo? is it worth getting the banks upgrade for it? new down pipe suggestions? (brand, place to buy)
the motor is bone stock.
I found this one on ebay:
eBay Motors: FORD TURBO 7.3 POWERSTROKE FAST SPOOL 1.00 TURBOCHARGER (item 310129170939 end time Mar-22-09 14:47:24 PDT)
MODS: flywheel / clutch, stock exhaust sans muffler & converter
any suggestions much appreciated!
