New guy here. I signed up a couple of weeks ago when I had an injector cup issue and needed to find some serious answers and opinions. Collectively everybody here is an amazing resource and some feedback would be much appreciated! I'll give details and maintenance background at the bottom.
Typical injector cup situation, fuel in the coolant reservoir and no other signs of head gasket problems. Took it to a reputable and highly recommended shop here in Richmond VA to fix the problem. Shop said the same thing, injector cups. Had them all replaced, they said injectors looked good but needed new o-rings. Picked it up yesterday and the diesel is back in the reservoir as of this evening. Shop wants me to bring it back in on Monday.
Question: Is there ANYthing else that could cause this? Bad injector, screw up on installing the cups, head gasket etc....
While I think that I've got a good shop doing the work, I'm getting worried that it could be something else or that they screwed up and may not own up to it and charge me more. Guys, this already cost me as much as my M1A1 and I'm getting frustrated! :dunno:
2002 7.3
139,??? miles
Gold coolant changed at 105,000
Oil changed regularly (diesel tech said he could tell by the condition of the injectors)
Noticed the problem 2 days after changing oil (which is why I'm told the injectors are fine since it didn't run too long in this condition).
Flushed the daylights out of the system before taking it to the shop.
Shop says they flushed the cooling system after repairs and replaced all coolant.
Picked it up and things under the hood looked good.
Now there is about 1.5 inch of diesel in the coolant.
I know that I'm a new guy without any posts. Any feedback would be much appreciated and I look forward to contributing in any way that I can.
