Well after talking with jody about what i wanted. I got my new f5 chip and the new led switch. install was easy and the switch looks like it belongs. I went with a 40tow,80econ,120race,stock,hi idle. This is by far the best chip i have ran on the 7.3 my egt dont get over 1200. and my truck smokes like i want it to now His tunes wake this truck up. My dad has another 01 f-250 and we have almost the same mods but different chips and he loves the dp's power and the fact you can change it well driving.
I agree, Jody's tunes are magic, got rid of a SCT and went to the DP chip. I couldn't believe the differance. I just checked on the holder for the controler the other day with Dennis at ITP,and its not ready as of that time.:yikes:
Can you tell us about the install? What do you have to tap into ...like the Quad taps into all the sensors all over the engine and is a PITA to install.
Will it work with a Quad Commander?
To install a DP-Tuner, all you do is remove the computer, open it up and clean the external connection port thats not used from the factory, put it back together, slip the chip into the port you cleaned, and run the cable to the selector switch. No tapping into any sensors, etc. Very easy install. Don't know exactly how the quad commander works, but if it is purely an inline device between the computer and sensors, then it should stack fine. With the DP-Tuner though, stacking really isn't effective. Jody has great tunes that won't really benefit from stacking. Using the Quad Commander as guages only should work though.
Kool, thanks. I am now trying to determine my next purchase to be an SCT or a DP tuner. I hear all sorts of good things about both but the way i understand it, they both do different things to accomplish the same goal - is that correct?
I already have a switch in my dash i could use with the DP tuner and I love the idea of switch on the move. Thats the main drawback of the SCT as I see it.
Any input between these two that might hep me beter decide which one to go with?
I notice from your signiture that you've got a 6.0..... DP-Tuner chip doesn't work in this application, though Jody does sell the SCT tuner with his custom programs for this truck. If it's a 7.3, I'm a little biased in that I have the DP-Tuner and love it. I particularly like the high idle for cold mornings. The SCT Tuner is a flash tuner, and can do pretty much the same thing a flip chip can tuning wise, but just can't change on the fly. As for the switch you already have, I doubt it will work with the DP-Tuner, as the switch that come with it is fairly unique. I'm sure you could ask Jody and find out though.
Well if it won't work on the 6.0 then its a mute point. The switch i have in the dash was for the Xzilliraider and I am thinking it would work with the DP but it is a mute point.
I will get the SCT! :chicken:
Yes the shifting is modified,as well as the line pressure as far as I know. Mine shifts way better than it did stock or with the SCT.
