When I lock in the hubs manually then unlock them, they don't seem to disengage all the way. I get a clunking sound when I do a hard left or right turn. When I check the hubs, they're set to auto. Sometimes turning them to "lock" then out again takes care of this but it sometimes takes a couple of tries. They're the factory original ones.
Ideas?
Thanks!
i have to do the same thing. when i do lock them and unlock them, i notice they are still locked when i take sharp turns so i lock them again and then unlock them and they unlock. not sure why. subscribed
:bump: to an old post....
Having the same problem again, they seem to be locked again. I unlocked them 2-3 weeks ago, still getting the clunking on hard left and some hard right turns. Do I need to back up to unlock these after taking them off lock?
Are you talking about the stock Ford units? If so, you may need to tear em down and inspect them, a good cleaning and relube may be in order. My Warns always work correctly.
I broke the plastic housing on the stock unit when I still lived in New Mexcio, and was up in the mountians hunting, truck slid down hill on an incline and a rock took out the hub assembly,,, three wheeling up hill while sideways on a rocky face weren't fun atall...

Yeah, they're stock. I was reading Guzzle's maintenance sheet on them, think I'll do that next weekend I have available.
When I get money or the stock ones take a dump I'll get the Warn hubs, seems to be the general consensus here.
What's the difference between the premium hubs and the standard ones....beside about $100?
