I've been runnin the 275 tune for a little over a week now with no problems. Even took it up to Mammoth over the weekend for some snowboarding. Trip totaled about 700 miles or so.
Yesterday I went and filled up the tank at a 76 gas station that I've never been to before. I've since noticed that the truck seems to be laggin quite a bit now. Still pumpping out clouds of black smoke but just isn't moving like it was. I'm wondering if I may have gotten some bad diesel??? I did add some Ford PM22A diesel addative before I filled up the tank. Used it before with good results but this was the first time using it since the installation of the new tune.
If it is the diesel, should I try and drain it or just run it through? If its bad I don't want it screwing anything up. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I'd drain the tank, change the filters and then get some fresh diesel with a bottle of Ford diesel additive and run the snot out of it and see what happens
This always baffles me. It must be a temperature thing, but I have never seen any black smoke yet with my 275. Although I have only had my tunes since it got cold here. Im assuming thats what the difference is?
Exactly, when it is cold the engines are burning more efficiently and producing less smoke. I would bet in spring that the smoke level will increse very much! IMHO, no personal experience, etc, etc......
Hmm, I will give that a shot next time I put my 275 back on. But I pounded the guts out it when I was running it, and I had next to nothing for smoke. Honest. I had to take the 275 off though and run the 210 because of cold weather starts. Its about -33f here so the 275 wasnt rollin over to well in the mornings.
ok so it seems like syphoning is out of the question...if it is a batch of bad diesel. how much harm will it do to the motor if i run it through? im thinking of dropping the tank but have never done that before and it seems like it would be a lot of work.
Did you check for codes? I just had to change a egrt-a temp sensor. (code p040d). I had no check engine light but really bad loss of power and no smoke. Just a possibilty.
Depends.......if you do what Pahrump says, I nice black out, but it clears up, which is a good thing. But just normal driving a nice puff here and there
