well ive got oil dripping under the truck looks like its coming from between the tranny n motor not for sure though.......i think it might me the rear seal idk... i bought some of that seal repairing crap that you put in with the oil but its not working so im thinking im gonna need a new seal how hard is it to do how much will it cost if i had someone else do it??? any input thanks!
Its probably the turbo pedistol Orings. Drain that oil with the seal additive in it. Never ever use that stuff in a powerstroke. additives like that can cause injector damage due to foaming
Others will tell ya more, but don't be so quick to assume it's the rear main... more likely the turbo pedistile or HPOP orings leaking, and filling the valley, then dripping down the back of the motor, to look like it's the rear main... I've heard that the rear main is not normally the culpret. Pop the hood, and check the valley...
didnt see any oil in the valley:dunno: i forgot to mention that it only leaks when the back of the truck is at a decline but when the front is it doesnt leak:doh:
make sure yhe back bolts on the oil pan are tight , i have seen this several times before. also , check intake boots , make sure they are tight and clean!
I would recheck the valley. that is where my money is at.
also.. sometimes oil will leak down and sit on top of the tranny. There is a spot on top of the tranny where it can pool in. Then it could leak when the truck is parked on an incline.
Check the back of the head on the side of the leak. There is an access hole that has an o-ring that can leak. I had the same problem and Ford was able to locate it right away. I am glad it was fixed under warranty; the down pipe had to be removed to get to it.
