Okay, i'm tired of fooling with this 4wd! I don't care to have the Auto lockers, and the so called convinence of being able to shift on the fly, blah blah! Can I just take the electronic motor off and some how make my whole set up MANUAL (way more depended). Please help if you can. Thanks you..
I'm assuming your frustrated with your front end not engaging. Most often with the auto hubs the vacuum seals wear out and prevent the hubs from engaging. The best fix I've found is installing manual hubs. Not quite as convenient as the auto's but way more reliable and a whole lot cheaper. As far as the electronic actuator on the transfer case, I've never heard of anyone having any problems with it. This is a great site with lots of good information. Someone with more knowledge than me will be along shortly to help you more.
also check the electrical connector to the shift motor, I had a rock or stick or something knock that connector loose and it wouldn't go into 4wd. I didn't find the loose wire until I was replaceing the motor, I reconnected the wire and returned the motor!!
now the electronic motor is prob not the problem... its more than likely your hubs and a air leak.... so you still hat to electronically switch it on the dash but get out and manually lock the hubs..
My 4wd works! It was the connector on the electrical motor, the one thats hard to see, I only saw one my first time around then went to replace motor, noticed 2nd connector unpluged, reconnected it and wham 4wd....
sorry to revive dead posts but does anyone have a picture of the plugs on the electric motor? i'm having the same problem and i wanna make sure that i don't have the same problem. any info. on their location will be greatly appreciated
thanks
