I think I might have a bad injector, but I should still be able to go more than 3-4k miles on an oil change. I think I read on here somewhere that you aren't supposed to run 15-W30 in the 6.0L...does anyone know what the correct oil is to run in a 6.0L??? Any input would be great, thanks.
15W-40 Here Year Round. It really doesn't get that cold here on the east coast. I also use synthetic. 5W would be more recommended for colder weather start ups.
IMO .... Get off that 30 weight quickly!
I run Shell Rotella 15W-30...but I cant go more than 4000 on an oil change...I know i have an injector going bad...i just cant afford new ones right now and im trying to prolong its life...any ideas
These 6.0L depend on good clean oil. 6.0 are a different animal. They shear oil pretty fast
Soot is a killer leaving deposits in oil. These injectors rely on good clean oil to help make the injectors fire properly. Much different than a common rail system. Rotella is fine! Just change your blend to a heavier oil. You can stretch your mileage a bit more with synthetics.
Schaeffer's 7000 Series 15W40. We run it in all our equipment @ our golf course and it works awsome!! Every oil sample they are telling us to extend intervals!! I run it in my truck (1st Change) now!! I'll let y'all know how the oil tests turn out. Supposed to be able to get 15,000+++ outta this stuff by the 3rd oil change (EVEN ON THE 6.0 PSD!!!!) Use their soy shield fuel additive's!!
