soo i had it in "auto"the other day and i could tell 4x4 wasn't work when i put it in my bakc tires jsut kept spinning so i "lock" the hubs and it still did the same thing it felt like my break was on in the front and my wheels kept spinning, my 110 amp alt. is on its way out iam putting in a 200 amp and i have been losing power in different parts of the truck could this be a lose of power, my hubs or that ****ty vacuum?

might just be the hubs themselves im not sure how the auto hubs work wether its vacuum or otherwise but i would look at that first, or make sure your in 4x4 sometimes the t case wont engage unless you are in neutral or park at least thats what it was in my 95 f150.

I highly doubt it is from the alt. going bad. Could be hubs or the transfercase motor. The transfer case may never locked into 4wheel drive.

It would also help to know what year truck, if it has manual ( transfer case shifter on the floor), or electronic shift ( switch on the dash).

If your going into 4hi it should be shift on the fly, if your going into 4lo you should come to a stop, place trans in neutral then switch to 4lo.

id make sure you had vacuum at the hubs and remember the hubs are PVH style hubs, so it pulses the vacuum to the front hubs so you wont have vacuum their all the time.

If your locking hubs still work (they haven't seized solid) and you lock your front hubs and nothing happens (sometimes a little reverse than forward motion of the truck is needed for them to lock) i would suspect issues at the tc.

another thing is to lock your hubs and try to spin the front drive shaft if it is locked then it might be a transfer case problem ......and if they dont lock put in 4x4 and have someone look to see if the drive shaft spins

Holy Fella Slow Down.

Before jumping to a tc rebuild, start diagnosing your 4x4..How's that vacuum at your front hubs? Do your manual hubs work?

Your issues could be as simple as vacuum seals for the front hubs or a pvh solenoid or it could be that their is a cracked or torn vacuum line.

Ill try to help you as best as I can.

lol alrighty well i think i know wat it is now
i went under my truck and turned my drive shaft it turned. then i went from auto to lock on the hubs and turned the shaft by the u joints the left side was solid and the right side turned still. also when i turned the right side it turned like nothing like no resistance. i put it in 4x4 drive coming home from work and shut the truck off in 4x4 and then tried to turn it solid again i then took it out of 4x4 wheel and the left side still solid and then the right side spins soo please some one back me up and say that its my hubs...lol a-rod
