Hey all you 6.4L guys. What I am about to tell you came from a Friend whom heard it from a Friend, So take it with a grain of salt.:wink[3]:
A guy that works with me and has an 08 6.4L was down at Planet Pick-up here in San Antonio Saturday. They got to talking and the store owner or someone there told him that there is a Diesel shop in Texas somewhere (I did not get the name) that sells DPF delete pipes and programmers (My guess SCT). AnyHoo the EPA/Gov agents came in and closed the store down for selling these pipes and retrieved a list of customers whom purchased the delete pipes. What they are going to do with this list :dunno:who knows. If the story is true:dunno:, Who knows.
I heard it, It might be true, It might not. I just thought I would pass it along. Maybe it will help if one day, one of you guys gets a knock at the door from a couple of cat's in black.
Anyway, Like I said, HEAR/SAY. But I thought I would pass it along.
I doubt the epa has guys in suits, and they cant just shut down someones company. how do they know who is buying what, it could be for offroad/race use only.
Don't move to Canada just yet, Like I said, Hear/Say:wink[3]:
I just thought I would hear others chime in and say they to have heard story's of this:dunno:
Sounds like something the Magnaflow rep or some other exhaust product rep is spreading...EPA can't close someone down for selling a product or products that are not illegal to sell or own....the products in question are illegal to use on your street driven truck and are illegal for a SHOP to install on your STREET DRIVEN TRUCK because you are altering a FEDERAL MANDATED emissions system.
How do you think Magnaflow/MRBP/Bassani and all of the other aftermarket exhaust mfg's have sold their products for years to hot rodders, truck enthusisasts etc,,,they are sold for OFFROAD/COMPETITION use only, and marked as such, what you do with it after you purchase it is up to you the individual. Hell, Ford Motorsports catalog offers a complete offroad exhaust system for the Mustangs, do you think that they are going to open themselves up to that kind of problem with the government if their was ANY chance if it being an issue...Now don't go down to your local Ford dealer and expect them to install it after they sell it to you,,,,,but they will sell it to you.
That is a good point, But if it is manufactured for OFF-ROAD use then the agency really would have no ground to stand on, But if a dealer were to install a delete pipe on an inspected vehicle, Maybe they would have something to stand on:dunno:
So if someone trailerd in a truck, and the owner signed an "off road only" paper they could shut him down? Wait a minite, theres that damn black helacopter with no lights or markings flying around my house again.:hehe::hehe:
It doesn't surprise me. Maybe some undercover fed had his truck modified (WHICH WAS UNDOUBTABLY BOUGHT WITH TAXPAYER DOLLARS) and now they have a complaint. Then just to fight this bogus stunt it would near bankrupt any owner operator. And they win. Any body seen any real fine print about modifying these engines? There is so much fine print on these new truck purchases who knows what they might have slipped in under our nose. Caterpiller is getting out of the over the road engine buisness because of the regs. I own some off road heavy equipment and see the writing on the wall for epa standards for them getting worse. It doesnt surprise me that they will go after the shops that install this stuff. And I always thought it would be guns first then our diesels. Lock and load boy's.
There is more than just one around here. I know of one in houston off 59??? on the north side. And there is another performance place on the south side of town on 45. I always see stangs out there though.
Sounds like bull$hit....but I do know of a store...here pretty close to me that sells all this...its not SCT, its their custom liveload flashes...and DPF delete pipes...BADP....I can find out for sure sooner than later about this....they are only about 60 miles away.
There was a guy here in So Cal selling pirated satellite cards and boxes over the Internet and got busted and the police and FCC and satellite companies went after all of this guys customers. They seized his computer and UPS billing information. I tried to find the article, if I do I will post link. So if this is true they can find you.
Totally and completely different, don't bother finding it, there are many stories like that that ARE true.
The DPF mod is legal to do, but the user may use it illegally. Think of it like this, it ain't illegal to build a monster truck, but it is illegal to drive it down the free way.
Shouldn't there be some ******* step in and say,...
"Bye Gosh,..Just try to pry my DFP delete pipe from my cold, dead, rigger-mortous clamped hands!":hehe:
think about it i wouldnt think it would be any different then most chips. i know mine had an off road use only disclaimer.................i never havr gotten pulled over
So why do we get messed with but none of the mustang crowd does? I ran a MAC H pipe with no cats in the whole time i owned my mustang and never got messed with, so why is it company like MAC Bassani and other companys can make those products and they are not getting fined:dunno:
What makes these types of rumors perpetuate are people like me that are looking for excuses not to have this on their truck. Therefore if people like me hear this kind of stuff they "pass it on". I don't "pass it on" because I want this dpf delete kit, I'm just afraid to void my warranty and burn up my motor because of my own stupidity. One of the reasons I bought new is because of the warranty.
I would say this is like the construction industry and OSHA. Rarely does OSHA make visits to residential construction sites unless there is a complaint. They visit the commercial sites because that's where the money is. When they fine a company, whether it's residential or commercial, it's based off the previous years' earnings. Would they rather make $1,000 or $1,000,000?...
Maybe the EPA operates differently and that government agency really does care about what they do but I find it hard to believe they would go after individuals that purchased the kits.
