i have a 97 psd that runs really ruff i tryed 2 scan it no codes came up so i tryed to narrow the problem down ran the truck with the valve covers off and unplugged each injector and listend 4 a changein the engine and afterunpluggin all 4 on the drivers side with no change i began unpluging injectors on the passenger side and the first one i unplugedman a difrence u think its the ICM injector control module thnk
We just had this exact same problem on my buddies 97. It was his IDM. I would take the idm off the drivers side fender and check to make sure it doesn't have water in it. His had leaked water in and destroyed the IDM...
his would not read any codes either. We did a buzz test and they all buzzed, but it cam back saying 2,4,6 low side something or other...
might check the engine wiring harness were it comes over the left v.cover. the wire can rub there and cause this problem. while the covers off wire tie the connector to the gasket. this can save trouble later.
A buzz test is a what test the injectors to make sure the solenoids are operating properly. You can only do a buzz test if you have a scanner or program like auto enginuity..
Mine was losing the passengers side bank on start up with ck engine light and then would fire on all 8 like nothing was wrong and the light went out.
Ended up the connectors were all burnt up going into the VC and once i got the VC off the harness was all burned up.
What did the under cover harness look like?
