I have a 99 F250 Super Duty and I am having a unexplainable problem. I bought a new radio for my truck. The old aftermarket radio took a crap and it was hard wired into the truck. I guess for some reason when the old radio was installed they had left two wires connected to the factory plug and the factory plug was left there hanging. I tried to get all the wires connected back to the factory plug, but to wires have the same color coding. I am getting power and a ground through the wires to the aftermarket plug to the cd player, but my cd player still will not work. Any help will be greatly appreciated, I have tried a lot of things, but am willing to try anything...
I have been using a multimeter and I have 12v to the ignition wire, and I then used the test light to determine I had a good ground. I still can not get the radio to even show any light of working. Does anyone have a color code to the stereo wires? I may be able to help trace my problem, I don't know, I am really stumped on this one...

Use your multimeter to check your connections from the wiring diagram above. It's best to use a meter since a test light will light up with less than 12 volts
I never could find a constant 12v source and could not get a decent ground, so I wired the constant source into the power point fuse fuse box under the hood and wired the switch into the fuse box in the cab, then found a decent ground in the cab. Thanks for the color codes, they helped out more than anything...
Not a problem. I did car audio for 5 years, I used to know the ford and chevy colors from memory. I had to google the wiring for your truck. I do good now to remember my name most days :hehe: Seriously, I'm glad you got it working :thumb:
Just a footnote, major electronics retailers that sell car audio have harnesses that will plug anything to any car or truck. Costs a little premium, but can solve some of the headaches.
Yea, i tried one of those, but someone before me had butchered the truck wiring..
