Turbo / Intake noise

I installed a Afe stage 2 intake three weeks ago and last night I noticed i'm getting a loud woooosh out the intake especially shifting from 3 to 4 or on let off. I've looked on here and it seems normal. But what has me scared is this morning the egts are staying alot cooler and its building boost faster. Its sucks being scared of something good but it all the sudden happened.

Diesels dont have bypass or blow off valves so you are going to get that wooshing noise. Its the boost backing itself out the turbo when you let off. My does it too.

It sounds like the wooosh is a normal thing but all the sudden it climbs to 24 pounds of boost with out really getting on it and the egts are noticeably lower. that's what I cant figure out. I like it but it was over night it seemed.

roughly low of 33 to a high of 55. coldest its been is 28. its been pretty cold for a while.

i'm guessing you mean 330-550. pre or post turbo?
One of you is talking about ambient temp and weather, and the other is talking about exhaust temps.

That sound is normal if it is during let off, but you already know that.

As far as you boost and temps go....??

Is your wastegate line disconnected?

egt at idle is around 290 but i was having a hard time getting to 900 this morning getting on it on the freeway. where as before it seemed like it climbed fast. probe is in the manifold. Its probably not a problem I'd much rather be running lower egts. it just seems like over it happened.

Yeah it has an edge. came with the truck and dont like to talk about it. I lost my TW when insurance wouldn't let me hack up my old truck to get it so now its a lack of funds issue and deciding what to get for this one.

I also also put on an AFE Stage 2 cold air intake. I also get that sound, what everyone is calling, the turbo fart. I think that is what it is. If I don't put my foot into it and it shifts throught the gears, no problem. When I do put my foot on the gas, it will go shift and when it does shift I am thinking I'm getting the turbo fart. Is that ok? Thank you all this is again a great site.

It's not surge or "fart"

It's air escaping back through the intake when you let off

Normal

So is it ok for it to do that? Its just a weird sound, not like the normal letting off of the gas pedal. Thank you for you feedback/

it's normal if you hear it after a hard acceleration. It's more pronounced with an aftermarket intake.
