Ok guys, had the front shaft out of my truck and with winter closing in i figured i would replace the u joints in it before i put it back in the truck. Well can you even replace the joints in this damn thing? It seems that the double joint has a ball and socket that i am unsure comes apart and then it doesnt seem that it is possable to get the joints out. Any help would be great, thanks in advance
Ahh the double cardan...and yes, yes, unlike a toyota or honda you can change those u-joints. I always grab the torches and cut the crosses...but thats how I do u-joints. Or grab the ball joint press and start pressing away...BUT BEFORE HAND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE RIGHT U-JOINTS...sometimes its a real sob to get u-joints that are right.
