I am up in the mountains visiting family got in the truck and started it. It started to rumble and white smoke was coming under the hood through the A/C vents and out the exhaust. I am pretty sure its the egr but i could be wrong. I need to go back to home which is 2 hours away sunday. any one have an idea what is wrong and a quick fix to get me home. Thanks

Like RWalker says, best to find a tech to help you out, but in the mean time did you pop the hood and see where the white smoke was coming from? I can understand if it was the EGR cooler with white smoke coming out the tail pipe and maybe even the vents in the cab, but don't understand why you had smoke pouring from under the hood. I'd like as much information as you could give. Did the truck do this immediately after startup or was it warmed up first? Did you notice anything on the drive up or prior to this? Anything/everything you can tell us will only help us solve your problems quicker.

I'll bet money that it's the EGR cooler. It has happened to me before.

well i got back fine i returned the truck back to stock and it still smoked white so i let it site for a while and it stoped. I bought a delet kit already but i have no clue how to put it in and i dont want to pay $1100 to have it put in. when i poped the hood it looked like the smoke was coming from the fan and also under the turbo. i hope its just the egr and not a head gasket

Glad you made it home safe at least. Hopefully you've got some time to dig in to it a little deeper now, and figure out how you want to proceed.

, 1,100 dollars sounds very high to do any kind of egr work
That is the quote i got they told me that it was so much because mine is an 03 and they are harder to get to than other years
