I know there are a ton of threads out there asking for general opinions, but here is what I have and what I want.

Have: 2006 F250 King Ranch 6.0 Powerstroke

Want:
Need to pull a 10.5k fifth wheel camper. Generally we two 600-700 per trip, so I want to improve my fuel economy, but also have power when I need it to make it up the hills.

So what do I do? Looking for a complete system.... was considering Banks Big Hoss, but many think its overpriced.

You could start with gages (pyrometer, Tranny, boost) a set of head studs, that way you can keep an eye on your temps. and you don't lift your heads when towing, racing, or just driving around. Thats the #1 thing to do with the 6.0l trucks, they have sever head bolt issues, and the only way to fix it for good is to install aftermarket head studs, like ARP's or you'll be broken down with head gasket failure.

you have an 06 which has the larger bolts with far fewer failures than the 03-04 model years, but the guages ($300ish) are a must when towing that much. get a sct programmer with a tow tune from eric at innovative diesel ($425ish don't know if that would include a custom tune which is worth every penny), an exhaust to lower egt's(price varies widely from $400-900 depending on cat back or turbo back and aluminum or stainless). the intake is stock intake is good. you could do a zoodad mod which is free. with this you will pick up mpg, i would guess 2 more. hope it helps you out some but you will see this will be the general direction you will be pointed by other people on here.

I suggest starrting out with the basics: Exhaust, intake, and a programmer. As long as you keep the mods mild you will not have to worry about head gasket failure. I suggest an MBRP exhaust (single 4" is fine) a S&B intake, and an SCT programmer. This package will greatly improve the overall efficiency of your engine and also give you some extra, safe pulling power. Feel free to give me a call or shoot me a PM with any questions.
