OK guys and gals, got a poll for ya, I need some help in weather or not to get a new truck. The one I am looking at is a 2004 Lariet 4x4, CC, Long Box, DRW, loaded, sunroof, six disk in dash, 66,000 miles. Had the normal stuff done for the most part according to Oasis. No turbo though. I have always loved these trucks. Price is right at $30,000.
Ok, I have my truck now, that is a Ex cab, 4x4, short box, 7.3, With several mods. I am trying to decide if I should upgrade or not, I would love your help on this and what you think about going either way. Thanks for the help.
I would take all the mods off of your 7.3L, sell 'em on ebay etc and trade 'er in on the 6.0L. That is one nice lookin truck. Wish I could afford a new truck. Maybe in a year or so after I get out of the Navy and get a good job. (After I pay off the current truck of course and give it to my dad.)
Yeah, if I got the new one, I would def be selling some stuff, I have already had people calling dibs on stuff  I would keep the commander and transfer it over, but most everything else would come off. I am just torn on what to do.
Check build date , my '04 was made june '04, 88,000 hard miles no problems. Thats a sweet truck, but unless youve got a trailer hooked to it 75% of the time or better I'd rethink dually.
Something you need to ask yourself is, "Is this new truck going to fulfill your needs better than the old one does?" If it is just a marginal difference I would just stay with your old truck if it's not giving you any trouble or getting extremely high on mileage. I could see if you were planning to start hauling some serious weight that would require the DRWs to justify the dually. But if that's not the case then you are only upgrading for the asthetics. It is a nice truck though.
PS. That price is average retail in my area. Yours might be different, I dunno? But it doesn't sound like the salesperson is doing you any "favors" so to say.:dunno:
Well I don't think will help your decision, but that is a beautiful rig!! I love having my dully I could probably get away with a 3/4 ton, but I like knowing that I can back up to anything and pull it with no worries. Me, I like the 7.3s If I were to get a newer one it would have to be a 2002 or older(but I wouldn't, I love my truck). And I don't know much about the 6.0s so maybe someone else can help there but me I'd stay with the 7.3s (but I'm NOT a pro)
Its a good looking truck. Definetly needs some good meaty tires on it. But you know what I say. You cant hide money. Right the check and lets rock and roll.
If it was a late 04 I wouldnt hesitate to get it. If you are serious on your quest to beatup on the ricers, then you better pack the heat to do the job. My vote is 6.0L if its a late 04. I would imagine that the stock 6.0L your looking at is just as fast or faster than the modified 7.3L you currently own. I know how you think Logan.....SPEED!
I don't think the 6.0 Logan's looking at will be faster then his modded 7.3.
Unless you're going to be hauling ALOT of weight (more then the lil trailer in the pic ) I wouldn't go with a dually. Lower mpg, slower, different axle setups etc...
I think this one boils more down to SRW or DRW rather then 7.3 vs 6.0.
ya ditto to the late 6.0 part because most of the kinks have been worked out. now if you get that dually LIFT IT. duallies look so awesome lifted imho.
Yeah, I love a lifted dually too, and it could get fast, I really do like the idea of having four real doors. being able to haul more people and more stuff would def be nice. Keep them coming guys and thanks for the imput.
Personally I say stick with the 7.3. Hey Brrs3633 I saw you on the other site, thought you were gonna turn her into a sled rig
Oh yeah discount- lets see a pic of those 33" with 18" pleeeeeese
I OWN A 04 DUALLY CC AND I LOVE MINE! KNOWING THAT I CAN BACK UP TO ALMOST ANYTHING AND HAUL IT, PLUS HAVING THE ROOM TO HAUL 3 MORE PEOPLE OR THROWING MORE GEAR INSIDE THE CAB REALLY HELPS! GO WITH YOUR GUT INSTINCT! I KNOW YOU'VE ALWAYS WANTED ONE AND NOWS YOUR CHANCE. I KNOW THE 6.0'S MAKE PEOPLE NERVOUS BUT YOU HAVE EVERYONE HERE TO GIVE YOU A HAND!
IT DEFINATELY IS A BEAUTIFUL TRUCK AND YOU'D LOOK GOOD IN IT!
well, you know what I think about the CC duallys (see my avitar!). For what I use mine for i really could use a 3/4 ton but then again, I like being ablt to load 4k lbs in the bed once in awhile when the need arises. And I can hook to any load i want and pull it. The CC is the best part but the load capacity is nice too. Get ready to bend over when you go to buy new tires though.
Your milage on that engine will be far more superior than you think. I get 22 mpg highway EASILY. 25 mpg if i have a tailwind! NO BS, I got that once driving south with a 40 mph north wind blowign up my tailpipe.
Get the truck if you want, they ride a bit rougher than your truck BUT you could do like i'm doing and get some velvet ride springs for the rear end. I haven't gotten mine on yet but I have heard from alot of people that it make one heck of a difference.
Thanks Clay, I am still working the Numbers and it is still D-Day +2. So Wednesday is the Day when I will know for sure. They are going to have to come down a bit, sooo with all that said, only time will tell. But yeah, def love the CC Duallys.
OK, so, been doing some more recon for intel, and I have found the black book on the Dually...$26,650, Black Book on mine is $15,850. Those are the numbers that they are going to get and they can take it or leave it. At that black book rate for mine, I should get about $2500 back for pay off on mine towards the other truck. So, if everyting checks out, it will be right around $24,000. What do yall think about that?
i would be REALLY suprised if they come below $28k om that truck. It's a nice truck - just like mine actually - but remember, don't go to Wal Mart and expect to find easy parking!
Yeah, I already have trouble sometimes with my truck. They have that truck on the internet for 28,800. So I know that have more room to move on the price. But, I think it will be a battle with a whole lot of getting up to leave and them saying well, what if we did this...
Why would a dealer wholesale it at auction.
Don't get me wrong, my truck was a dealer buy back also, the dealer I bought it from picked it up at a dealer auction in TX, brougth it back here and sold it to me. I knew it was a buy back but could find no reason. No mechanical issues at all on the Oasis...so i bought it
I don't know, Maybe that dealer had a lot of used and needed to make room for new trucks or something. beats the Heck out of me
