When I was putting the BHAF air filter on the other day and as I was taking out the stock airbox I noticed a sensor on the back of the air box so I took it out and drilled a hole in the plastic that is under the air filter is that going to be ok. Thanks
Since that one is the ambiant temp and messusers the air in the box (the other, the air in the manifold after boost and boost cooling) Would it be better (the ability to fool the #'s going to the computer) to put the one in the box in a cooler location (making the pcm notice more of a diffrence) or in a hotter location(making the pcm notice less of a diffrence)
I wouldn't expect much of a diffrence in performance, but every lil bit can help.
FWIW I would think your better off knowing nearly the exact temp going INTO the turbo, for more accurate PCM calculations.
But really I don't think it is used for more than the EBV and maybe the AIH functions anyway. I don't think there is allot of calculating on fuel mixture ect... with the temperature on our turbocharged setups. Since the air is superheated after going through the turbo anyway.
I really don't think so, the ambient temp wouldn't make as much difference on ours as in a NORMALLY aspirated motor, (outside air directly into the combustion chamber) That is when it would make a much larger difference I bet.
I can't swear to these answers, but from what I understand that is my Humble opinion!
