I just got my windows tinted yesterday, they are 5% all the way around and the back glass is 20, so that I can still see to back up at night. I also got a 5% strip across the top of the windshield The two back doors are 5% on top of the factory 20%, and they are dark as hell!! You can't even see in them if you put your face to the glass!

NICE, my truck also has dark windows. mine are just barely illegal may be like 15 or 10. tint tickets are a joke, we have them down here in fl to. luckly i havnt gottin a ticket(knok on wood).

I guess Ive got the darkest then:punk: I got pulled over and the cop put his little meter on it and asked me what it said since he couldnt see it the truck is too tall(or he was too short). Anyway he said legal limit on the front doors is 28% +/- 1%. Mine was 1%. Gave me a ticket for improper equipment and said next time he was gonna give me a razor blade:eek:. Oh well I just dony go through that town anymore. By the way mine is 2 layers of 5% all the way around and a strip of 5% that is 12" tall across the top of the windshield. My old regular cab was the same way but had 20% from the bottom of the top strip to the bottom of the windshield. Talk about dark:cool:

Yea I'm thinking of going back and getting my windshield done 35%, I figure that will make it dark as all in the truck!

#16 ·
Either you get used to it or you dont have it. Like I've said before PIMPIN' aint easy.

Yeah, mine is pretty dark and a lot of people get in my truck and ask how the hell I can see. I think if you are going to do all the sides dark, it is better to do it all the way around, that way it does not kill your night vison, but still, dang, thats dark:eek:

That is really dark. I really think it's borderline unnecessary. I mean I had 5% on my old chevy and I couldn't see in even on a sunny day beating right in through the tint. Why do you need it so dark? I mean i'm a fan of dark windows, but there may come a time where you may wish that tint wasn't there. Say when you don't see the improperly dressed jogger until you've already splattered him on everywhere..

Why do you need it so dark?
Its a matter of want not need. Why do you need "TST PMCR R49/Digital Boost&Pyro*ATS/PPE Xcelerator*AEM Brute Force*straight pipe*6" silverline tip*Autometer Phantom boost/pyro on a-pillar*305/55/R20 Nitto Terra Grapplers*20x9 MB Motoring "Shaker"????? You dont need it, right? You want it. I've also been driving with windows that dark since I was about 13 (thanks mom and dad) so I'm used to seeing through it. Its kinda like gettin used to wearing stunna shades at night.

ON EDIT: I guess you do need all that stuff so that Dodge will run. :poke

Okay, point taken. But those mods that I listed in my signature don't affect my vision especially at night, and that's part of the debate at hand. Also, if you really want to take a shot at a common rail dodge that is modded like mine vs a 7.3 modded like yours, let's line them up and see who comes out on top! You'll be making excuses for power loss from those 39's versus admitting a clean whooping from a quicker truck. I'm not knocking the 7.3, but lets be real here.

As I said before that I'm used to the tint and driving at night. Just because you're night blind (guessing here) and cant see at night is no reason to tell me that I can't see out of it. And as to a race, duh you'll beat me, mines not built to race. But anytime you wanna come down here and go bumper to bumper hook to the same sled that I do or try and go through the same mud holes that I do, bring it. I'll drag your truck all over the parking lot, pull the sled further than you will, and have to pull you out of the hole that I just went through, this is of course after I cover your "common rail" with some of Florida's nasty blackest goop. But we all know that you wont do any of these for 1 of 2 reasons. Fear and common sense, from the pictures Ive seen, you dont look like you have a whole lot of common sense:chicken: . Joking aside I wouldnt even challenge you cus you're truck's not built to do these things and it just wouldnt be worth it for me. You know like stealing candy from a Dodge owner (read baby).:D

dang lets get our panties out of a waud. if i was betting i would bet on the dodge for racing but when it comes to the sled there is no replacment for displacement. i have watched the "big" sled pulls and the trucks with thousands tied up in a motor and no lift and little tires cant do anything but spin and blow smoke everywhere. all that power dont do any good unless you can get a grip to something.

#25 ·
I don't know what pull you've gone to. I've seen many a stock height duramax with slightly larger than stock tires like BFG A/T's pull 300' plus. Same thing for Cummins trucks. Traction is one of the key elements, small tires or not if the tread don't grip you ain't goin anywhere.

#26 ·
very true. thats why i said lil red has got you beat in the sled pull department hes got 39.5's and you have like 33's. but in turn you will leave him once you hit asphault.

#27 ·
Not really dude. Big tires like that will suck a lot of the power he does have out, he'd need a lot of power to lay down as much as I would on a sled track. I'll get me get a DD pulling clutch and i'll be glad to go down the track a few times.

#28 ·
well by the looks of his truck pulling it has no problem with power and big tires. and also you said your truck was not built for "that" so what was it built for, e.t.'s. if so you cant be the best at both worlds.

#29 ·
Okay anyways back to the original post! I had 15% tint that I put on the side windows of my old truck and I got popped for a $65 dollar ticket cuz of it! The worst part is the little place I was going through had just passed their own law on what tint percentage was allowed! I got screwed! Maybe it is time for me to finally put some tint on my windows!:D

#30 ·
you're going by looks? A TS chip, exhaust and intake in a 7.3 running near 40" tires isn't going to lay down as much power to the ground as a CR dodge with TST stacked onto a programmer. It'd be harder for him to get that wheel speed, traction aside.

you missed one very major mod 4.56 gears.
