What do you mean theres no aftermarket replacement. Places like autozone have it for like $150. I personally bought the motorcraft brand for my truck last week because I didn't want any failures to come.
Not that hard to take off and reassemble. Remove the fan clutch and shroud. Autozone has the wrench to rent with a $50 down payment collateral fee. Transfer the water sensor and the water inlet on the top, thermostat and thermostat housing. If the housing needs replaced, get a ford part and not an aftermarket brand. . If your thermostat is in good condition and the seal looks good and not stretched or swelled up, then you can use it again.
