HELP...........I was wondering how much better synthetic oil is than regular oil. I do a lot of towing. Is it worth the money going to synthetic. If so whats the best way to change to synthetic. How do you drain the torque converter. Does all the non synthetic oil have to be out before you put in the synthetic oil??

Please let me know. :icon_ford:

Can't tell what year truck you got? Fill out your signature. I changed to AMSOIL ATF (100% synthetic) this weekend. AMSOIL synthetics are compatible with other synthetics and petroleum products. I got about 19 quarts out of mine and added 19 new. (Some is wasted)

My model truck has a drain on the TC. You remove the inspection plate and bump the engine until the plug shows up. Yours may not.

I did a flush using the tranny pump. Google 4R100 Fluid Change and you will find several good sites. Search on this site and you will see where I had a problem and got some help.

Good luck!

Yes you do. Take the four bolts out of the inspection cover and look to make sure. You may have to have someone bump the engine until it comes around.

Call me before you do a flush if you plan to do it yourself. Did mine Sunday. Still have ATF in my ears! 864-878-2029

I just went to amsoil also. Amsoil website has a write up on how to change all the fluid. I just drained the pan and the filter. Amsoil told me that the best efficiency from their product is achieved with at least 90 percent amsoil fluid installed. This is the way I did my expedition 30,000 miles ago and had no problem with it. When I did that one it actually took care of my torque convertor shutter. Would use their trans fluid in anything I owned. Good luck:thumb:
