Cluster has a mind of it's own...

Today on my way out to lunch I noticed all my gauges were still and nothing in the cluster would light...not even the mileage. I have access to Ford IDS and I scanned all the modules and all had U0155-lost comm with cluster. At this point I'm pretty certain the cluster will need to be replaced. The PCM had a P1260-theft detected, vehicle immobilized...this was a direct result of the lost comm to the cluster when I tried to start it during its fit of rage!

Anyone else experience this type thing??

Yup same exact thing happened to me last week. Went to leave work and I had no cluster light except airbag. No cranking or nothing either. DashDaq had them 2 codes. Had to have to towed to the dealer. Cost $855 to have the cluster replaced and reprogrammed. They used a reman cluster in my truck which was $470 and the rest was labor which included reprograming both keys and programming the cluster. And there's no way around it without getting robbed by the dealer because it has to be programmed. Downside is my engine hours say 0 and I had 80100 miles give or take a few and they just put 80100 when they programed it. I don't like that because someone can say they have 20k less miles and that's what they will put.
