What do you guys think of plaid upholstery?

I'm due to have my seats re-upholstered and was thinking of fun and unique ideas. My truck's interior is all grey and has a ton of wood inserts and trim pieces (It was built to be a long-hauler deluxe package from some local business that went out of business years ago)

I figured a nice blue, tan, white, & grey plaid would look great in my interior.
Here is my inspiration (I know my truck is red, but it will soon be painted either blue, grey, or white):

Here are pictures of my current interior:
(Ignore the missing door panel!)

I was thinking of using a plaid similar to this styling:

1970 called, they want the plaid back :poke,

What are your seats from? I like that design, don't work my drivers door panel is missing too :hehe:

Hey now... not everything in the 70's was bad :hehe:

I'm really not sure what my seats are from, they came with the "long hauler package". They are super comfortable though, I could fall asleep in my truck so easily.

What year(s) are you talking about when you say square body vehicles? I thought out trucks were very square looking :)

Our trucks were certainly the last of the square-ish angular designs. But still not angular enough. You'd have to go back to the first version of our body style, the '80-'86, to make plaid work visually. The front end of the '92-'97 is just curve-y enough to make it not work.

Maybe I'll mock something up before I pull the trigger and see how it looks!
I do miss my '86 F250, I love square nose trucks!

they are...

as such, I think it would look good... whereas it wouldn't in a newer style truck
I get what you mean now :thumb:
I don't think plaid would look good in a super duty either!

I have a rule of thumb for ya, if plad is a part of your upholstery then there better be a carb under the hood and a last name of Brady lol

I don't qualify for either of those... Dammit. lol

Is that a yes you do support it or no you don't. lol

I have my door panels off currently. I will probably re-wrap below that armrest where the window controls are mounted to first.
Then I will probably do my seats and my upper center console.

Hopefully have it all done in 2 weeks! :thumb:

I was trying to find a neutral colored plaid pattern so it would match pretty much any exterior color, but that is very hard to find. I'm hoping that I have a better selection at the upholstery shop!

if the truck is red (or staying that way) go with the red
The 3 samples that I picked have a lot of blue in them. I have a slight obsession with the color blue... So I may end up painting the truck blue. I also really like White and Grey on the OBS body style.

I'll probably end up getting this thing painted in the next year or so. It just costs so much... lol :tard:
