I just installed a brand new radiator in to my 2002 F350 7.3L diesel. 144k miles.
Immediately after installed the radiator, I noticed the transmission is suddenly not shifting cleanly. There's a hesitation when shifting into reverse, and sometimes the engine seems to bog down then "kick" into reverse.
This happens intermittently, and sometimes when I decelerate to a stop, it will do the same thing.
I noticed also, when I shut down the engine, I can hear a air "hissing" noise coming from the transmission. It goes on for a few seconds, then slowly stops.
When I changed the radiator, I did wind up adding some additional Mercon ATF after some ATF fluid was lost. The truck is definitely due for a transmission flush, but this happened literally after the first test drive after replacing the radiator when previously it was fine.
Is there something I missed perhaps during the radiator swap? Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
Thanks!
