Have a 2012 6.7 that is pushing 36,000.
If I want the deal on the extended warranty the dealer offered I have to pull the trigger before the manufacturers warranty ends at 36000.
Am inclined to say to heck with it but am curious on others thoughts in regard to extending the warranty on this engine.
Thanks for any responses.

The thing that worries me is what happens if you end up with one of those rumored $10,000+ warranty issues, cab removal and all, etc. It really comes down to playing the lottery, some people gamble, some people don't.

I've seen some 7/70K extended warranties for these trucks as cheap as $1700-$1800 on the web from authorized Ford dealers selling genuine Ford ESP plans. You might do well to get a quote from 2-3 of them and take that to your local dealer and see if they can match the price. One thing is absolutely certain, the dealer usually marks up the ESP warranty cost about 100%, so there's a lot of room for negotiation.

Check out usaa. I just got their bumper to bumper warranty to 100k miles and it was less than $900. If your not a member, I think you can still get the warranty. It's through assurant. I haven't found anything negative about the aftermarket warranty company.

The problem is you see more and more rejected warranty claims anyways because they come up with any excuse to not cover it..

Water in fuel is a big one and people have taken independent samples and there was none but if the dealer says there is they won't warranty it and you're screwed anyways.

I still choose no warranty!

Well, remember your motor comes with 100,000 mile warranty to begin with. So, your 36,000 bumper to bumper is ready to expire....correct? I have gone both ways over the years with and without. On my current truck (2010, 6.4) I bought an extended bumper to bumper making my whole truck covered to 100,000 miles. My cost was cheap, because my friends dad own the ford dealership I go to. However, with that said. My warranty has pair for itself multiple times over. Ball joints, u-joints, blend door motors, hydro boost....all of those things are expensive to repair. Ask yourself one question....Are you keeping this truck to 100,000 miles? If the answer is yes, buy the warranty if you can get it for a fair price.
