have a f-450 bucket truck with a 6.0 shuts off sometimes and wont start somestimes, hot or cold, don't matter, may go a couple days even. replaced crank sensor and exhaust sensor. I do notice when I turn the key on I hear the injectors buzz, (it will start). when I turn key on and do not hear injectors buzz, it will not start. any ideas? ficm going bad? pcm?

Check your fuzes and relays sounds like your not getting power sometimes during the start sequence.

At the back of your owners manuel there is a chart of the fuses and relays. If you have no manuel it can be downloaded for free from ford. Give the form your vin #.

Hey dude. Do the inj spool valves cycle rapidly or slowly? If they are slow, thats a dead giveaway theres a pending FICM issue. For starters, check the harness & the connections at the FICM just to be certain. Secondly, you should get a quality scan tool hooked up to that engine and verify what the HPO system, FICM, IPR valve and communications links are doing when it shuts down. It could be a failing IPR valve or any of several other fuel or oil related components. The OP may be onto something as well. There very well could be an electrical concern pending. Only a scan tool will provide the needed info for accurate diagnosis to minimize wasted time and $.

when it wont start, i can try to do a injector spool test and it says pcm failure and a little while later it while start and i can do a injector spool test and it passes. plan on changing the ficm relay for saftey. if it acts up again I will try to be ready to test ficm relay for power from pcm. any other ideas will help, I will post fix.
