Hey everyone new here! Normally I can do a search but didn't have any luck! I just bought a 2003 f250 king ranch fx4 6.0 164,000 miles. When I bought the truck he told me it had a egr delete kit, new oil cooler, new fcim and new hpop but had no receipts to show. I did confirm it has a IPR delete kit and rebuilt fcim so I don't thank he's lying about it.

My problem is when I go to start it and it's been siting over night or all day it will start right up but die almost a few seconds later I can start it back an it will run a bit longer then die again normally the third time it will stay running and I won't have another problem with it. I have changed oil and filter with rottela t. New motorcraft fuel filters and a new air filter. Also I have tested my ficm and got steady 46 volts.

So I'm kinda stuck I really thought it was the fuel filters but it wasn't any help would be great! Thanks

Are you using the stock oil filter cap? Or is it a tall aftermarket one?

Okay I just noticed in your original post you said your FICM has 46 volts? It should around 48-49 volts. Usually when I see them drop to 46 I change them anything less than that can cause a no start condition. With your FICM voltage that low it could very we'll be your problem.

Yeah, sounds like a ficm. I have also seen people with so many injectors missing cold, that truck wouldnt run for more than a second. When you turn the key in the on position, the injectors cycle. It should sound loud clean and consistant, if it sounds kinda randomized its usually injectors or ficm. Gotta check ficm when first cranking after a long cold soak. Also, if using the block heater fixes the problem, usually ficm/injectors.
If those are good, id look into base oil pressure/icp
