99 SD CC 4x4 auto. I had another thread trying to figure out why it wouldn't start. Traced it to the switch. Installed last night. Worked fine. This morning same ol' BS. Nothing. So what could be eating the switch??
It's a torq (sp)bolt & very easy to find. You have to pull your lower dash panel by the brake & accelerator pedal, held by a few plastic Phillips screws. That's if it's still there. Look by the steering shaft & you will see the linkage with the bolt or bolts( can't remember if it was one or two). Sorry I didn't take a pic when I did mine a few months ago.
So, with the help of a pic, I was able to find the 2 screws that secure the shifter assembly. 1 was a turn loose. Now things seem OK. A combo of the shifter and switch. Chicken egg...?
Well, the first 2 tries, I had to use a screwdriver the rest of the day I could use the key. WTF?
