going to go look at a RV with the above set up tomorrow. Currently have 04 6.0 but as I understand the vans did not have the issues found in the F series is that correct?
also going to take SGII out of truck, do I need to have the codes set or will they be maintained and able to check out the van for issues? currently set for EOT, ECT monitoring.
Any known issues different from the F series to worry about. Veh has only 20000 miles on it. There is a magazine out with a guy drag racing his van but he has not indicated if he had issues to address. Has done mods to run it such as studs (I think) air cleaner, exhaust.
They did have the same issues as the trucks. However, just do the same procedures as you would for checking out a used 6.0 f-series and you should be good to go.
doing studs in an e-series would require pulling the engine out. Not quite the same job as doing it in a f-series.
All the same concerns apply but take into account the engine is much harder to service in the econoline chassis. It's not anything a typical do-it-yourselfer would want to attempt.
Ok, just to close this out. Went up to see the unit and it was OK, but wife didn't like it, said it was too small! Anyhow took it out for a run just to see and was under whelmed with its performance in comparison to our 04. poor acceleration, just no pep at all, scan gauge hooked up and readings were actually good. 5-6 deg differences until on slight hill than climbed to about 8-10 readily returned to where they were I am only talking 215 EOT
221 ECT so I would hazard a guess that the engine as of now is OK. Still had the gold coolent, oil not real dirty but needed to be changed. Had to click off OD for it to accell decently.
So thanks for the input on this it was appreciated.
