I have an 8" lift on my early 99 f350. I have had some sloppy steering for awhile. I went under grabbed the drag link and can m ove it with my hands. Do I need a drop pitman arm and drop track bar bracket? I have no bump steer, just wandering in the last few days. I'm having trouble finding them for an early 99.
Are you sure the steering box thrust is tight?
Try rocking the steering wheel back and forth and see if the pitman arm is moving with it.
If it's tight move on from there.
You need a drop pitman arm if it currently has the the stock one. They do not make a track bar drop bracket for the Early 99's or an adjustable track bar. You can buy an adjustable track bar for Late 99-04 drill out the stock holes, and replace with larger bolts/nuts (the one on the axle and the one on the track bar bracket). As far as the sloppy steering is the slop at the drag link ends ? If so replace them. You can also adjust the steering box as stated above (5 minute job) and that will also help take some of the "slop" out of the steering.
