So i have my I/C mounted and truck back together but i am having problems with the pipes to the spyder. I was wondering if anyone has used the stock pipes off a 7.3 with little modification to them of if i need to chop them up and make a custom set. I would like to do it all DIY instead of buying the kit as to keeping it a low buget build. Thanks
I use the superduty pipes. I lengthen both pipes at the intercooler end by 3" and the hot side pipe I heat the large 90* bend and remove about 5* of bend. Doing this makes for a perfect fit and allows use of the stock boots.
I clamp the pipe in a vise near the small bend, heat the whole larger bend with a rosebud, and use a 2" piece of pipe to pry some of the bend out of the large bend. What this does is give some clearance between the intercooler pipe and the ac compressor otherwise it is rubbing on the compressor pretty hard and makes it difficult to line up the pipe to the spyder.
