Just wondering on cost at machine shop. I want to build a 7.3 powerstroke but few machine shops I called it seems cheaper just to but a long block already done.

Heads $495 each plus parts
$235 line hone
$35 cylinder hole
$225 to do crank
$135 plus parts for frost plugs n cam barrings
$185 just to inspect

Your gonna be $2000 at the machine shop alone. Just wondering if that seams realistic . I've sent big cummins and cat engines to the shop for $1500 .

What have others done that rebuilt their own engines. I'm talking block n heads n crank. Not asking bout injectors ect

No problem, if the shop doesn't have a tool to remove and replace the injector cups rosewood use to rent a tool to do it im not sure if he still does that anymore.
How much power you Looking to build it for?

I've built lots of dt466e and 7.3 idi's - assembled from ground up but didn't deal with the paying for machine work- work paid for it. So I'm fully confident I can get it done myself. I'd like to see around 350 to 375hp to the ground. Just enough power to throw u in the seat. Nothing crazy like people say they want 600hp and only have $4,000 to spend lol. Just want a fresh motor.

Had this truck and had to sell it due to losing job and now I found the current owner and sold it back to me now I'm in good position to keep and build it like the original plan. Land vehicle Vehicle Car Pickup truck Automotive tire

I see well at 350hp you wont have to worry about headstuds or a girdle
How much lift you got on that truck

The truck is a 95 got 3 inch body lift with a 4inch susp lift. Solid front d60 . I broke one of the rear axel shock mounting tabs off the axel so I'm looking into upgrading to possibility dual shocks (4 on axel) with trac bars but trac bars is after the motor (putting main focus onto motor first.
