Does anyone know of a custom grille cover made for Ford Superduty's? I've seen them on bigger rigs in the winter time. I have an '06 F250 6.0 PSD. I started wondering about some type of grille guard cover last year with my '05 PSD. Was wondering if it would help it warm up quicker and hold the temp better. Does anybody have any experience with this, or is it something I should avoid altogether? I would like to find something made from the same material that car bras are made from if possible. Would like a custom fit. I live in Iowa and the winters can get down right cold. If anybody has any information or opinions please drop a reply. Thanks in advance.
this is probably as close as yur gonna get, if you had something to cover the front grille like that black leather on the car bras it would over heat due to no air flow through the radiator. i guess you dont have a block heater?
Yes, I have a block heater. I've never used it as the truck is garaged unless I'm working night shifts. I've got a 40 minute drive home in the morning, all highway. I've noticed when it gets really cold that the truck takes 10 minutes or so to blow good heat. Just thought that some sort of cover would help.
The cover from cabelas is pretty close to what I was thinking. I've looked around off and on for a while and haven't been able to find much. Thanks for the help!
Usually when it gets cold, if you plug your truck up, it helps a ton. You might want to try and keep a cord with ya this winter that you can plug up anywhere. In just a min or two you are blowing real hot air and you don't have to worry about anything messing up the front of your truck. Just a thought. Be cheaper too.
Diesels run so cool.....plus the fact that there is still air coming from under the truck......that those actually wont cause an overheat under COLD operating (less than 40 degrees) for most trucks under non loaded situations....
On my trip to MN one christmass, it was -12 degrees and it was all my heater could do to keep us warm inside. I didn't have the commander temp guage then but I would bet it would have only been reading 160 or less.
