no matter how hot or cold it is outside my truck always starts very hard and rough with little to no power. in temperatures around 60 or below i plug in the block heater which helps out quite a bit. but today after school it was 99 degrees outside and STILL the truck started the same way, hard and very rough. any ideas? :dunno: 170,000 miles, superchip, and this problem was happening even before the programmer was installed. any help would be much appreciated.
thanks

have you had the latest flash .....if not take it to the dealer and get it re-flashed with the new stuff ....thats what i did and now it runs great

Call the dealer and explain to them the truck should have been reflashed when you were in there last time.
After you do so. Say. " When would be a good time to get this prior issue resolved" Make sure they understand you do not intend to pay for this without having to say it. You might get away with it, Might not. DO NOT ask if it is under warranty. Call another dealer out of town and ask them how they would handle this. Not the dealer you plan on taking it to.

Good luck

definatly the reflash mine was doing the same thing. Be aware though if your tech is a dumbass mine was silent when i said i needed it reflashed. Than he told me I needed the new updates. Same thing but it fixed the problem and she starts like a dream now.

It's called the inductive heating strategy and it will help your injectors to start easier when its cold. Give them your symptoms and explain that is what you want.

inductive heating get the reflash then ask questions. if it cranks for a long time you most likely have a icp issue. either a leak or a weak pump, but like i said get the reflash first it is amazing!!! a long crank is 5 seconds or longer. if it still runs rough after the reprogram it most likely injectors. have you fuel filters and oil changed at the same time. if i were you i would pay the 170 buck for diag and reprogram and if you are still a do it yourselfer take the diag and replace what is diagnosed as failed. or you can pay and/or try to fix it yourself.

YES I WOULD BET YOU THAT IS THE EXACT PROBLEM!!!! THE ISSUE IS THE "SLUDGING OF THE INJECOTRS. TRY RUNNING 10W30 DIESEL! AND GET THE REPROGRAM. THE 1540 OIL IS THICK AND THE OIL IS WHAT FIRES YOUR INJECTORS! THE THICKER THE OIL THE HARDER IT IS FOR THEM TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. ALSO THE INDUCTIVE HEAT IS WHAT HEATS UP THE OIL AND MAKES IT FLOW SMOOTHER THUS LESS FIRING ISSUES. KEEP UP ON YOUR MAINT! CHANGE YOUR OIL EVERY 5K MINIMUM...NO MATTER WHAT BRAND YOU USE. GET THE RECAL!
