The big three diesels

When I say the big three diesels I mean cummins duramax and powerstroke.

I wanna know why and this is food for thought for all you guys out there. why when you go to a certain board or forum this is all you hear cummins is better than your powerjoke or duracrap etc etc. why the brand hating?

I love my powerstrokes because thats what comes factory from ford. I find that dodge and chevy put out a inferior truck but when it comes down to engines if you got the cash the sky is the limit when it comes to performance. I have seen the mighty cummins break I have seen duramaxes blow it and Fords blow it. when you get up there in performance they all need to be fire ringed head studded etc. I honestly do not think a cummins engine is any more reliable then a powerstroke 6.0. Yes the engine has been plagued by issues but it was not to long ago that I remember the 5.9 having blocks that liked to crack.

I think my point is if we all have to spend the money to get the power what does it matter what platform we build off to achieve that? in all honesty a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton truck that can post a 10-12 second et is amazing.

Oh why can't we all just get along???? why, oh why??:hehe::hehe:

you have "brand-hating" because its the nature of the beast. Its competition. Just like you have people who are die-hard ford fans, you got people who are die-hard cowboy fans, or die-hard Earnhardt fans. Or any other area in life where you have 2 or more items that compete to do the same thing.....people will pick a side.

And thats just the way it is...

very good point thast why i pride myself on being a "diesel" lover they all have their pros and cons but some people get pretty heated if you tell them their cummins wont beat your powerstroke which i have beaten and gotten beatin by both d-max and cummins i just want to have fun

And there ya go, personal preference and having fun.
I would probably be driving Studebakers if they were still in production.
Learned not to race the daily driver back in the 60's when drag racing air cooled VW's

All you hear cummins is better than your powerjoke or duracrap etc etc.
A lot of Ford owners say that, too. But you don't hear a lot of Dodge owners saying Powerstrokes are better than Cummins.:dunno:

When you get up there in performance they all need to be fire ringed head studded etc.
6.0s need it a lot sooner than Cummins. Try 50psi boost on a stock 6.0 and see what happens.

I honestly do not think a cummins engine is any more reliable then a powerstroke 6.0.
Honestly?:hehe:

I think my point is if we all have to spend the money to get the power what does it matter what platform we build off to achieve that?
It just takes a lot more money to do it in a Powerstroke, but it can be done...

i am just a diesel guy... but i cant get a crew cab long bed from dodge, and that just really pisses me off and leads me to hate them... what are they trying to market to the soccer mom and not the construction guys? wt crap. but i think a lifted dodge looks sweet. chevys, and gmcs i use to like intill the body style change. looks like crap to me.. and i think we know how i feel about ford, sence i drive one and dont complain.

Is all about personal prefferance. I hate when people are bashing on others trucks. Oh your got a 6.0 what a piece of sh*t. Or Duramax's are crap you should have gotton a Cummins. Cummins are slow. I worked hard to get my truck and I don't want to hear it's a piece because it's the truck I wanted. When I see the other 2 out there I am always complementing them on there trucks because I know they worked hard to get the truck they wanted and they take pride in it. It like the saying treat others the way you want to be treated.

I agree with you 100%!! Most people worked hard to get what they drive, so i hate all the bashing too. I drive a powerstroke and a cummins there both extremely reliable, tons of power and i love them both.

Everyone does some hatin' on the other brand from time to time. It's no different with diesels, gassers........heck I bet the hybrid owners bash other hybrids.

I honestly do not think a cummins engine is any more reliable then a powerstroke 6.0.
:hehe::hehe:As if.

Yes the engine has been plagued by issues but it was not to long ago that I remember the 5.9 having blocks that liked to crack.
That would be the 53 block. Some cracked by many have not. It's something that isn't too costly to prevent. I find it odd how you arrived at the conclusion that the entire production run of the 5.9 is no more reliable than a 6.0. It lasted from 89-07 with updates throughout the run, compared to the 4.5 years of 6.0. There are a lot of happy 6.0 owners out there, but there are a whole lot (more than normal) who are unhappy.

I love Ford Vans and the 78 Dodge Power Wagon. My Toy is a 78 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. I take a ton of crap cause I own a Ford. I look at them and say show me a Chevy van that has 342,xxx on it and still runs great. But I do not tell them my van is a diesel. My thing is anything but a Toyota!!!

The people I bought my work van from had a Chevy Express for about two years with just a tad under 300k on it, but someone hit the side of it and for a van that's pretty much totaled so they bought a different one.
My van is a 93 E250 with about 106k, it's a gutless turd but it keeps my tools dry.
