lately when i shift going from gear to gear has been rough /grinding. i was wondering if i could change the fluid or do anything to help :dunno:
i know i my clutch may be worn but not looking to replace it anytime soon
thanks
I would first change out the fluid and flush it. If you cant do that, i added some Lucas Oil Trans fluid stuff to mine and wow, what a difference it made! I can barely feel it shift gears anymore!! Smooth as ice. Try that for starters if you want
If changing the fluid doesn't help, then your synchronizers may be on their way out. Mine shifts rough going from 5th to overdrive. If I wait a second, then it'll shift just fine into overdrive.
Changing tranny fluid for our trucks with the 6 speed is easy. There is a drain plug and a fill plug. It's basically a matter of draining the old and filling with the new. For fluid, I used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. Seems to work pretty good although I've read about members who are using Royal Purple and report better shifting. I may go that way when I change the fluid next time.
