A co-worker has a 1998 F350 PSD that he bought at auction, got it home, replaced injectors and pump, engine runs great but tranmission has a problem. He can shift manually thru all gears, but when in 'D' drive it will not go any higher than 2nd gear, also, overdrive off light on the column begins to blink. He has changed oil and filter, does not know what kind of trans E4OD?
If its a new body style 350 it should have the 4R100 trans. Maybe there is a bad solenoid in the trans. I think that is a common thing that makes the OD light blink. Hopefully a tech will chime in to help you more.
98 up diesels are 4r100. od light flashing means a code is set. got to retrive it,(find out what it is).
