I have a 97 PSD with 72,000 not happy with the shifting. My question is would putting a Banks TransCommand be a good or bad idea with the milage. Also can you stack that with the Superchip Programer? Thanks for ya'lls help!
I have heard that the transcommand isn't all it's cracked up to be, key word HEARD, I don't have any personal experience with it. However I have also heard , theres that word again, that the custom chip guys like TWildman, or DP Tuner can whip your tranny into shape. Just letting you know there are other options than the transcommand. Good luck with whatever you decide
DP Tuner is a chip, but if you give them a call they will clarify on all the capabilites of their programing 828-221-0076 dp-tuner.com, or totaldieselperformance.com (my choice )
I have perosnal experience with the TransCommand and highly recommend it. Put it this way: I went through an E4OD once a year with my last truck. I finally put a TransCommand on it when the last tranny went in late '96. I continued to use and abuse the truck just as I had for the first 5 years of ownership. The trans held together and shifted great until 12/05, when it finally let go. The bands & clutches were burned to a crisp from 9.5 years of heavy work and snow-plowing. The trans lasted that long thanks to the TransCommand. I just had the whole thing rebuilt and am keeping the TransCommand on the new one.
