I have a 2003 F250 6.0L with around 112,000 miles on it and I have experienced overheating in the last week just all of the sudden. I took it to my local ford house and they have been running tests on it all week. They have taken the radiator out and looked for clogs but there were none. They replaced the thermostat and it still overheated. They tested the EGR Valve and it was fine. I have heard from another forum that it could be my head gasket but the dealership says that they don't think so. They have no idea what it could be and their only answer to anything is "well lets replace that and see what happens". If anyone has any advice that might help me out in the slightest bit please do so. Thanks!
My first thought was blow-by. Compression Check
Not too sure on a 7.3 Can ya check over flow bottle for flow to see if there are bubbles.
Fan out put OK? Belt good and tight. Thermostat?
Actually that was the noise that I heard first that alerted me that my engine was getting hot. It sounded like it was working because I could hear it loud and clear as I accelerated.
I think that too about my water pump going out. Its just about that time when that thing goes out but its not leaking and the dealership ruled that out.
Well the ford house said they would replace the water pump. I'll tell ya how it goes.
