Hey 'man,
Yep i put cracked heads back on there and you probably read my post about it some where on here. i too didnt want to put them back on but more so, I didn't want to spend 3k on new ones that might get the same cracks, in the same spots, in who knows amount of time. My machinist also said he talked to a ford tech that said many of them crack there and I should be fine running it. Also, a rebuilt head that another machinist was trying to sell me had more cracks than the one it was to replace, probably just pressure tested and not magnafluxed. In any case, after that i took my heads to another guy that I mentioned above.
One thing that kinda sayed me was all the people doing studs, one at a time...they are playing the odds just as much as I would be.
In any case, I did it and so far so good ::knocking on wood::
I'm running the SRL+, with a powermax, and about 30 psi boost.
Ive been running the heads for about 5k miles now.
The decision is yours

Hey --
I got your name from mikeproc. He said you rebuilt your truck and when you had the heads at the machine shop you found out you had some tiny cracks in insignificant areas. He said you put the truck back together with those heads and havent had any trouble.
I just got the same news on my heads. Im doing head gaskets, sinister EGR cooler upgrade (w/ block plate and sneaky up pipe). I really dont want to spend another $3k on new heads.
I was just wondering - how long ago did you put the cracked heads back on? How many miles? Any problems? Are you running any tunes? How high are you boosting (PSI).
I am trying to decide what I should do. If you could answer some of the questions for me, it would help my decision!
Thanks -- Jason
