Im getting new rims and tires
i want my tires to stick out of the wheel wells more.

HELP ME GET MY STUFF STRAIGHT

I plan on getting

kmc xd series monsters.

22x11 -44 offset
back spacing 4.27

Idk how the offset and back spacing works will someone explain that to me
i was once told that the negative offset is what makes the wheels stick out

i currently have kmc xd series hoss.
20x9 with a positve offset like 12 or something and they do not stick out much at all..( i bought the positive offset thinking that meant they would stick out more, but i guess i was misinformed .... ouch..)

thinking the wider rim with more offset will have the tires flared out more

aslo i plan on getting a 13.5 inch tire to replace my 12.5 inch wide ones i have on now.

yes negative is what you are looking for and 4 inches sounds about right for this wheel.

If you measure the back lip/flange of the wheel where the tire sits to the mounting surface you will come up with 4.25". That is your backspacing.
To convert backspacing to offset do the following

Backspacing – (Wheel Width + 1)/2 * 25.4 = offset

4.25-(11+1)/2=-1.75 multiplied by 25.4=-44 for offset

Basically the closer the wheel mounting surface is to the rotor side of the wheel the more it will stick out.

Hopefully this will make sense to ya.
