The dye in red diesel is for tax purposes. Off road diesel is not taxed. It's pretty much the same as diesel you get at your local station. just don't get caught with it in a road registered vehicle, there a many large fines involved

red diesel is the same as diesel at the pump except for the fact that off road diesel is propably low sulfer, 500ppm... realisticly tho when people say off road fuel it is probably home heading fuel which is 1% sulfer, all the same stuff, just be careful if it is home heating, some is mixed with kero, which has no lubricity... ive been running home heating fuel for 2 years now and 55k miles, good to go, runs great better then ulsd
just my input

You wont have a problem in your 05, unless the Trans Police catch ya...MAJOR fines, and I ain't talking local, it is a Federal Tax Evasion fine. I have heard them hit the thousands for first timers.

And with the fuel prices so high, they are looking at the private trucks as well as the heavy haulers.

Use at your own risk.

Ya around where i live all the local ranchers go to the auction on wednesday so every once and a while they'll set up and catch all the ranchers goin to the auction and bust them. They usuall always catch at least one. And like everyone else said its not a cheap fine.

If you do use it make sure you change your fuel filters yourself because the Ford dealer might not like it if they catch you using red dye and they could void your warranty. They will find out because the filters will be red instead of what ever color they usually are. Also too I run red dye in my equipement and I looked on the invoice and it said 15ppm.

Uh, I just looked at where you are from. I used to live in Avalon and my sis still lives in CMCH.:thumb:

Yeah, you are a small town, and there ain't really any "thru" truck routes. But I would hate to get nailed by any of the Jersey State boys for this. Just my :twocents:

We have used our shops heating oil in a pinch in our diesel tractors when we have forgotten to get our diesel tank filled.

The tractors don't mind, but I hesitate to dump it into my rig.

I love my rig, I love to drive my rig, so I pay to play.:thumb:

Redstroker, I am calm. Just voicing my opinion. I also know several law officers, and I am just stating the fact that they do not accept the excuse of not knowing the law as a reason. But then again my friends are not "as dumb as a bag of rocks" as you so gently put it.:dunno:
