When truck first starts in morning I hear a constant chirping which sounds like a belt or pulley. I was told by a tech. that it sounded like the tension pulley. Just want another's opinion... 2002 7.3l 136,000 miles

Seems noise goes away after idle for a bit, also when engine shuts down same sound.

Replace the belt before you do anything else.

I chased a chirp/sqeak by replacing the tensioner, pulley, then the belt.

It was the belt the whole time...

I just fixed my squeak by replacing the bearings on the belt tensioner and idler pulleys. Only cost me $18. Also thru a new OEM belt on and the same time.
