Six-Gun settings

Hi Guys! I have an 06 CC/SB 4wd. I just installed an MBRP stainless turbo-back cat delete system. I ordered a Banks six-gun and speed loader. I have read the owners manual on the banks website. From what I can tell you have to "train" ther torqueshift for every power setting. What power setting do most guys leave the knob on all the time? I was thinking you could leave it on a lower setting until you wanted more power and then just crank it up. But from what I read every time you switch from lower to higher you have to re-train the tranny. Can someone let me know how this works!?

What your assuming is correct, you do have to retrain every time you turn up the settings...however, if you train it to 6 turn it down to 4 drive it for the day, you should still be able to return to 6 without to much problem. All trucks respond differently but I actually got the best mileage out of mine on 6, I only turned it down when towing...up about 2mpg on 6.

i dont have a banks but my mod has 3 settings, i didnt follow the guidelines as to retrain my tranny(stupid me) and at first i could tell it was out of wack, im guessing the more i drive it the trans has learned because the shifting has gotten smoother. i keep mine in the highest setting most of the time, i have bumped it down a few time just to get a feel for the lower power, after bumping it back up to the highest setting the shifts felt the same. just my

the way that I understood it was that this step needs to be done once upon install, of course with each setting including the SL setting. For instance,
select level 1, on an open road with no traffic, pedal to the metal, and let it go until perhaps 65 mph, then repeat. Then switch to level 2, and go through the whole deal again, until youve done all the levels. Thats how I did mine.
So far so good. No issues at all. Hauls more than lumber if ya know what I mean! I usually drive with mine in level 2, assuming that the higher the level selected, the more fuel is delivered. Hence some smoke on 6, none on 2.
I usually pull about 16-18 mpg on level 2. Perhaps on my next fill-up, Ill try 6 for the whole tank and then report back.

well hell then, perhaps Ill top off the tank tonight and level 6 it :)
For sure, truck hauls tush. I took my brother for a ride, and he's got a 1965
Ranchero, built at 11.1 comp ratio, and he was SUPER impressed.
BTW...if you think that 6 moves your rig...try SL! Amazing indeed.

I went for the Banks because Gale Banks himself sits on the board w/CARB!
For those not in CA, thats the Calif. Air Resource Board. Watchdog of smog!
I had a couple of extra bucks, and knowing Banks still makes plenty of go-go, on went the 6gun. Pretty darn happy with the setup. I know that other people out there can hand me my arse, but I'm OK with that.
Ive got 3 older brothers, so Ive had my arse beaten before :) Whats 1 more.
One thing that we all cn agree on, and that is that diesel is fun. Nuf said :)
