I have a 2001 E 350 that is now at the dealer for High Fuel use they where more interested in fixxing my Vacuum pump that I had replaced last year than finding out where the leak was at.This past weekend when I changed the fuel filter you could see clearly that there is fuel drainning off the back of the valley and down the back of the block I also noticed oil pooled in the vally. The area is cleaner where its been leaking they said it would take 3 hours to run a test to see why I am using fuel so much maybe a bad injector with less than 110000 miles they tell me.
I have noticed that after I have done a long trip my fuel use goes back down 17 to 18 mpg this past week I drove 30 miles and went thru a 1/8th of a tank time to time I have smelled diesel in the front of the Van

Definite bowl drain o-rings

The fuel bowl has a valve to drain water from it, behind fuel filter housing with yellow lever on it, it has two o-rings which go bad.. Ford wants alot of money for the valve, I was told there was no o-ring kit from ford. So I went to my local Ace hardware and bought two 0-rings for about $1.50.. there are some great posts here on that repair. It takes a torx socket and about 45 minutes to fix.. A definite D.I.Y.
Good Luck
