2003 F-250. Cruise stopped working but there is power to steering wheel. VSS is replaced, fuses are good and connections are all good. Anyone have any suggestions as to the problem. Maybe a relay?
Im not exactly sure if the cruise is vacuum operated on the powerstroke or not:dunno: Im sure someone will chime in with an answer. Welcome to powerstroke.org:thumb:
there is a switch with a plug with 2 wires in it connected to it on your hydroboost unit right below your brake fluid resivor the purpose of that switch is to cancel your cruise when you hit your brakes it can be bad or the plug could have come unhooked
does the clockspring also return the steering to straight because i have had a slight steering problem. When driving, hitting bumps pushes the truck left or right. The steering does not return to straight. I have to return it to straight.
no....the clockspring is just coiled wires in a plastic shield behind the steering wheel....all it does is allow electrical currents to flow to the other side of the steering wheel and still have the steering wheel able to turn....
Might be time to have it put on a scanner, with my predator programmer I think I can see when the cruise is on or off and see if the steering wheel buttons are working. It should be totally electronic and there are several switches and light bulbs that have to be happy for it to work.
Quick and dirty test. You can unplug wires from the hydroboost unit install a jumper wire from one side of the plug to another. Drive and try the cruse control. If it works it's the sensor or the hydroboost unit.
The stearing sound like its in the stearing gearbox.
yeah, i need help also, My horn nor the cruise works????
