Body Lifts for diesels?

Ive been looking around on a bunch of sites cause I was thinking of adding a two inch body lift to my truck this summer but every time I find a body lift kit for my type of truck it always says it wont work with trucks equipped with diesel engines. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a body lift kit that would work with a 94-97 diesel f250.

Thanks

Can't do it unless you rework the intercooler. Custom job and not cheap.

Supposedly you can use one for the gas trucks, you just have to "clearance" the firewall around the exhaust manifolds. I saw this on a post on the diesel garage.

I have helped install one on a 99 Powerstroke and it was for a gasoline powered truck. There was no intercooler mods needed either!!

I agree. If you want to turn a perfectly good truck into a steaming pile then put a body lift on. Otherwise do it right with a suspension lift.

what does the steering dampener do for me. i have a 4" lift and oversized tires. after reading my signature do i need any added suspension with the 4" in place. i am set up for hauling and tow

The reason there are no body lifts for the diesels has to do with the fan shroud and fan. I bought a Trailmaster(I think) for mine and they told me that I would have to do a lot of work with the fan and shroud. I haven't gotten around to doin mine yet though so I can't be 100% sure on that.

I already have a suspension lift on mine I was just considering adding a body lift instead of upgrading to a 4 inch suspension from the 2.5 inch I already have but if its gonna be a lot of work with the fan and shroud like you say I might just hold off and upgrade to the 4 inch suspension

Diesels need all the cooling they can get. When you do a body lift it moves the radiator up and and away from the fan. Gas engines have some issue with cooling after the fact , Diesels are even worse.

Don't do it, you will hate it and they don't look that good anyway.

I agree Bodylifts==:tard:

For the money and effort it's not worth it. Just pony up the extra dough for the 4" lift. Your truck will perform and handle much better with the suspension lift.

i have one on mine , been running it for three years and never seen the gauge go over half, without the intercooler you wont have a problem, yes you do have to modify the fan shroud some, but its no big deal, thats my two cents

If you do have a problem with cooling you could always add a pusher electric fan. The only time you would need that is sitting in traffic.

body lift is a bad idea

I will agree that a body lift isn't ideal, but I wouldn't say it is a completely bad idea either. I have had 2 chevys with body lifts and didn't have a single complaint. My one ton chevy had a 6" superlift lift and a 3" body lift that had less body roll than several suspension lifted trucks, and some stock vehicles. Mine were IFS trucks and the one was on 38". Now if I was going higher than 40" I would want all suspension. My :twocents:

i had a 3 inch body and 8 suspension on my old psd. the body lift cost me $1100 and my mechanic said it was a pain for the 6.0 the 7.3's are easier. since you dont have a intercooler it shouldnt be too bad but the fan shroud would have to be modified. heres a pic of my old one.

yeah that was total price including parts. for those of you saying the body lifts ride crappy, your wrong it rode really nice and very stable.

You can use a body lift for a gas engine..I did a 96 diesel...You have to move the fan shroud down like you would on any other body lift....some people have just removed the bottom and either left it off or made 3" spacers to lower the bottom...:thumb::thumb:

Im pretty sure Im gonna go with the 2" body lift cuase Im going to do it myself so I wont be paying for labor and I know it wont take me as long to do as it did to do my suspension lift and I have a 3" body lift with a 4" suspension lift on my other truck and it looks great and 120 bucks sounds a lot better then 800, thanks for all the help guys I appreciate it!
