Hello,
Has anyone found larger tires for the F-450? One that would that still has the heavy load range? It would be awesome to fill up the wheel wells a little bit more and effectively raise the gear ratio a little bit in the process to help with fuel economy.....
I have the same truck 08 f450 and i put toyo 245 70r 19.5 they are about the max for width with stock rims. the toyos are a great tire they took alot of the wander out of the truck and are a nice aggressive tire. as i do alot of snowmobiling and camping down some pretty rough roads. they are a bit louder but make up for it in performance. i'm driving to daytona beach from vancouver bc canada so we'll see how the road noice is when i'm loaded with the camper. i leave friday. any ? just ask....
Hello,
Thanks for the reply.... Thats cool. Yeah, I had found some wider tires available, thats probably the widest I would want to go anyway, But What I was really refering to was the highth....
I should have clarified that a bit:doh: Anyway, for some reason I cant find any 19.5's with larger than a 70 ratio sidewall. If anyone knows different, please give it up.:thumb:
no 70r is the only side wall for the 19.5 pisses me off too but the 245 70r 19.5 are just over a inch bigger the the stock tires. not much for lowering the rpm but all is good.
I like the wheels on the truck..... I also dont have a small fortune to spend on the new wheels. I just want to put some taller tires on there to raise the overall gear ratio and improve mileage....
Aslo, there is a ton of room there...it would look alot nicer, in my opinion.
I have actually thought of going the following route. For me it would improve the look and I'm sure the fuel mileage all in one shot by getting the truck closer to ground and allowing for better airflow around it.
ooooohhhhh..... I am going to look into this. Looks bad ***!
I dont think I would want to lower it that much though maybe just the back a little to level it out. Then put some helper air bags to help with heavy loads. I just dont understand why someone doesent make a bigger freaking tire for 19.5's. It would be so nice to just buy some larger diameter tires when these wear out, to help with ratio and fuel mileage..... hopefully by the time I need new tires they will be available. I only got 1400 on these .
