Do they make these? seems like every other race engine has a stroker kit of some sort, and I'm pretty sure it's the only thing that makes the 6.4 a 6.4. A company just came out with one for the Duramax's.. where's ours?!
just wondering, thinking it'd be a cool mod too. 2006 6.4L truck... mmm, has a ring to it :nate:
dude... what about just getting the internals to a 6.4 truck?!?! i just thought of it. I dunno- like you said. the guys might be able to lend a hand. where you at brudas?!
Evan you better get a good job and more than a Looney tune if you want Nate to be catching up to you!
On the stroker vs rpm thing. I believe it works the opposite. Longer stroke engines are capable of less rpms than short stroke engines due to balancing issues. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
I doubt that the 6.4 crank is going to be an easy fit. It would be cool if it you could just swap out a 6.4 crank and rods to make your own stroker kit! Longer stroke always equals more torque. You better start saving up now Nate. Sooner or later you're going to need a full cage in that truck!
haha! i gotta stop sooner or later- i don't wanna be in a bunch of monkey bars going to the home depot or nothin.
but who knows. I just got my 1040 and that number has a nice ring to it. power- or times, i'm not sure which one... but 4 digits is niiice
oooh boy! no body take my idea! it's my brain child haha Marc- can you look into this for me dude? I got scott on it too- first one to get the right info helps me put it in
welll.....all and all its gonna be interesting to see what happens...
no matter what...compression ratios...fuel timing.....sensor readings....etc...etc are gonna change. Just getting the programming down for it could take months....but honestly if your going as far as the crank the injection system might as well be looked at too!!!
dont play around Nate you know Ill just put myself into some serious debt if its gonna be like that :hehe: Ill start selling all my other toys to buy parts lol. And Matt, Im just breaking Nate's chops he knows I love him unk:
Im not gonna lie I feel like its on!..I gotta go Im ordering parts right now. I just took Destiny's credit cards and we gonna start living in my truck. We dont need a house or anything anymore
call me Nate Dog I got something to tell you..funny stuff
Not that I'm aware of. Very few people building all out race/pull trucks out of 6.0's. The duramax and cummins crowd are far ahead in that department. Might see some 6.4 or 6.7L stuff down the road if there is a demand for it. Since Ford went common rail the possibilities are opening up.
In one of my diesel power magazines, there was an article on Elite Diesel making a stroker 6.4L into a 7.3L and a 6.0L into a 6.9L but those engines were purely race/performance types and not daily driving machines. It had something to do with the pistons being shorter and not having a cooling galley or something. I dont remember the specifics but when I read that it wasnt a 100k mile engine, I stopped reading. Nevertheless, it has been done.
I still don't think Elite has gotten a stroker motor running yet. They have one in their 2.6 puller but as far as I know it hasn't run for any longer than a few minutes.
Personally, I have more interest in a big bore motor than just a stroker, so they can breathe better and hopefully spool bigger chargers.
And assume being elite, the price is going to be unreal expensive. Would be neat to have a 7.3 that could breathe.
Of course if someone really wanted to pursue the idea, they would have to be a machinist with access to casting or forging equipment. Preferably forged.
Elite has a grand total of one Stroker motor running. I believe they use new Cunningham rods, Custom pistons with shorter skirts, and offset grind the crank to get the added displacement.
I would rather have a destroker kit give me rpms!!
